53rd Annual Hunt Country Stable Tour
This Memorial Day weekend, estates in Virginia horse country open their gates to visitors for the 53rd annual Hunt Country Stable Tour. Taking place in one of the most scenic regions of the country, this self-driven tour includes 13 stops and provides a rare glimpse into horse breeding and competition in one of the most scenic regions of the country. From foals, to jumpers to polo ponies, you’ll see how equine athletes are bred, trained, fed and cared for.
Stops on the tour include the MARE Center for foal handling and equine treadmill demonstrations, Heronwood Farm – home to over 60 alpacas, and Sunny’s Corner Foundation at Takaro Farm will feature pony rides for kids. Also, Sunday, May 27 at 4 p.m. there will be a polo match at the Virginia International Polo Club, weather permitting.
