A different kind of Holiday Shopping experience awaits you at Round Hill’s Hill High complex. On Saturday, November 17 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., make your shopping experience “Easy as Pie” by crossing names off your list at the Gateway Gallery and Gift Shop. The Gallery offers unique items made by 22 local artists; from original oils to ceramics, pewter, textiles, glass, jewelry and more. This month’s Featured Artists will be on hand to talk about their work; Meredith Hilt is a metalworker who creates copper and silver jewelry; Amy Manson is a ceramic artists who brings a playful sensibility to her vessels; Judith Lillis is a well-known photographer of classic Loudoun scenes; and Jill Evans-Kavaldjian is a painter and relief printmaker with a bold and graphic style.
The artists of Gateway will also present pie-themed work, including gift cards, pie plates, and pie birds, and they will tempt you with delicious home-baked pies and other refreshments. Area residents are accustomed to journeying to Hill High each fall to order Thanksgiving pies; this year’s event provides a fun way to complete holiday tasks. As an added incentive, a lively local string band, the Polka Dots, will bring their spunky blend of old time, early jazz, and gypsy music to the affair. Learn more about their music at www.thepolkadots.org. This event is free to the public.
The Gateway Gallery is located at the Hill High complex, 20141 Harry Byrd Hwy. on Rt. 7 just west of Round Hill. For information and directions call 540-338-3001 or visit www.thegatewaygallery.com
