Brian Ganz and CHOPIN! Music with a Cause Sunday concerts at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Purcellville continues with a concert to benefit the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter. The concert will feature internationally renowned pianist and award-winning Chopin specialist Brian Ganz in a recital of works from the Romantic composer’s youth, including nocturnes, polonaises, mazurkas, etudes and a rarely heard set of variations on the charming German air, “Der Schweizerbub.” In a demonstration he likens to “musical gardening,” Mr. Ganz will play works containing “seeds of genius,” composed when Chopin was as young as 11 years old, and follow them with works in the same genres written shortly after the composer reached the bloom of artistic maturity. Tickets are $15 at the door; seniors $12; ages 17 and under admitted free. Franklin Park Arts Center featured performances of the Parade Train by VSA November 18-20. The performance celebrates the 100th Anniversary of this historic Purcellville tradition, with the Parade Train used to welcome the holiday with stops along the WO&D Railroad towns. Purcellville Mayor Kwasi Fraser made a cameo appearance to the surprise of the cast and audience.

Patrick Henry College’s Eden Troupe will present its rendition of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth on November 17 through November 20. There will be four performances, Thursday through Sunday, at 7:30 p.m.

This production will be Eden Troupe’s 33rd play, and its eighth Shakespeare production. It also marks the directori-al debut of the husband and wife team of Christian and Lauren Fernandez. Christian previously co-directed Eden Troupe’s production of Henry V and played Antonio in Much Ado About Nothing. Lauren previously played Prin-cess Catherine of Valois in Henry V and Ruth Bailey in It’s A Wonderful Life. LA LA LAND, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, will screen on Saturday, October 22 with Oscar-nominated director Damien Chazelle (Whiplash) in attendance. American pianist virtuoso Thomas Pandolfi will play the music of George Gershwin on Saturday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Franklin Park in Purcellville. Pandolfi has recently performed as a guest soloist with The National Philharmonic, The Ohio Valley Symphony, the North Charleston Pops and the Wilson Symphony. Tickets for the concert can be purchased online at www.franklinparkartscenter.org. The price is $25. The price for a ticket and for admission to a VIP post-concert reception is $55.
