Time for Someone Else to Step Up

May 4, 2016 People Comments Off on Time for Someone Else to Step Up

There’s a famous saying in sports, that goes something like this: “It’s not about whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.”

Purcellville native Jeff Brown – who retired from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department in 2013 after 32 years, and who will pass on another great legacy this year when he hangs up his Little League coaching glove of 25 years – may as well have had that famous quote tattooed up and down his arm. As manager of The Phillies, he’s that well known, that good, and that genuine, batting in the high 300s game after game, after game. … Continue Reading

Woodgrove’s Own Kyle Miller: Filming His Way To Fame

January 7, 2016 Lifestyle, People Comments Off on Woodgrove’s Own Kyle Miller: Filming His Way To Fame

By Amanda Clark

Kyle Miller, junior at Woodgrove High School, has his own film company titled SendItFilms. He specializes in filming action sports such as Motocross racers like himself. Miller says, “I started SendItFilms with the idea in mind to bring high quality video to places and people that otherwise would not have the ability to access such a service.”

Miller was first interested in making videos in the fifth grade. A couple years later a media company called Vurbmoto released a META Edit Contest in which they provided clips of raw footage that you needed to edit yourself into creating a three to four minute video. Miller said, “This opened my eyes to what I could really be capable of.” Last winter, Miller purchased around $1,000 worth of gear and began to put his name out there via social media. After that SendItFilms took off, Miller has made enough money to pay off his original investment and now makes a profit from it. “With each project, I try to change things up a tiny bit and I am always experimenting with new techniques to see what exactly will get me the best results, “said Miller. … Continue Reading
