Red Cross Seeking Summer Blood Donations in Leesburg and Sterling

The American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give blood this summer for hospital patients in need and offers three steps that people can take to save lives: (1) Schedule a blood donation by visiting redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-733-2767 to make an appointment; (2) Prepare for giving blood by getting a good night’s sleep, eating a nutritious meal and drinking extra fluids; and (3) Giving blood — the entire process takes about an hour and the actual donation takes about 10 minutes. … Continue Reading

Route 606 Lane Closures Beginning June 23 and July 14

Two traffic shifts will occur in the coming weeks along Route 606 between Evergreen Mills Road and Pebble Run Place in connection with the Route 606 widening, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The shifts will occur as follows:

10:00 p.m. Friday, June 23 to 9:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24:Westbound Route 606 traffic between Pebble Run Place and Evergreen Mills Road will shift to the right onto new roadway; left lane of westbound Route 606 approaching the Evergreen Mills Road signal will be closed for about two to three weeks, during which time drivers should expect delays during the afternoon rush and are advised to use alternate routes. … Continue Reading

Man Charged with Assaulting and Killing a 17-Year-Old Girl

A man has been charged with murdering a 17-year-old Reston girl who was reported missing, Sunday, June 18, around 4:00 a.m. near Dranesville Road and Woodson Road, in the Herndon area. An investigation determined she was walking outside with a group of friends when they got into a dispute with a man in a car. It appears the suspect, Darwin A. Planned Network Outage June 11

Loudoun County Government has scheduled a planned outage of the county’s computer network and applications beginning at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017. The planned outage is expected to last 4 hours, ending at 10:30 a.m. The planned outage is necessary to perform network upgrades.

Credit card payments, as well as RecTrac and WebTrac transactions, may be affected during the temporary outage.

MS-13 Gang Member Enters Guilty Pleas

Jose Miguel Espinosa De Dios, 19, appeared before Judge Stephen E. Sincavage in Loudoun County Circuit Court and entered Alford pleas of guilty to first degree murder and felony use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.[1]

On the morning of September 4, 2015, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting in Sterling. Deputies responded to the area and located an unresponsive Hispanic male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Focus On: Bramhall Trucking

Bramhall Trucking has been in business since 1985. The company started out with one dump truck and have expanded to four dump trucks, four over the road trucks, as well as two skidsteer loaders. Mike was born and raised in Lovettsville and his wife, PJ, has lived in Loudoun since she was nine. Mike and PJ’s son Jake has joined the team full time and sometimes all four of their children pitch in. Bramhall Trucking delivers gravel, mulch, top soil, leaf compost and landscape stone. They also install culverts, build riding rings, grade driveways, and “can spread gravel with the truck like butter on bread.” Said Bramhall, “We also are good at finding practical low cost solutions to drainage issues around farms.” They have added pasture seeding and fertilizing to their offerings. The Land Trust of Virginia held their Nineteenth Annual Garden Party on Sunday, May 21, to present awards at the Wind Fields Farm in Middleburg.  The Browns have placed the remaining two parcels of their farm in conservation easement. All 94 acres of Crooked Run Orchard are now in permanent conservation easement.
