By Amanda Clark

On Thursday, November 3 at Woodgrove High School there was a Powder Puff football game between sister schools Woodgrove High School and Loudoun Valley High School to raise funds for the Friends of Loudoun Mental Health. Stephanie Butler, coordinator of the event, says “In the fall of 2014, there had been some tragedies at both Woodgrove and Loudoun Valley High Schools where friends and loved ones had been lost. A few of the students came to me wanting to raise awareness regarding mental health by having both Purcellville high schools come together and hold a Powder Puff football game to raise funds for the Friends of Loudoun Mental Health.” Butler has already seen the positive impact that this event has had on both the students and the community and feels that everybody has become more aware. “This event has brought the issue out into the open and acknowledges that these concerns are real and do exist. We have had many students that have secretly dealt with it themselves and are now realizing that others care and want to help,” she said. … Continue Reading
